THE FISHING AT DRIFTWOOD

Being part of the Ottawa river, you will find in this area a whole network of rivers and lakes extending over more than 100 km, of which the lac Simard alone is 15 km in diameter.  (Rivière Winneway, Lac Simard, Rivière des Esturgeons, Lac Grassy, Duck Lake, Rivière-des-Quinzes, Lac Fleurette, Lac Gaboury…) Check out map of the lake

The most commonly found fish in the area are walleye, pike and small mouth bass, but you can also find large sturgeon, perch, white fish, ling, catfish as well as some other species.  They are all wild species, it's not “catch and release” (unless you want to), therefore you will have a wide variety of wild fish to enjoy.

Wriglesworth's Family, Summer 2003

With depths varying from 6` to 100` you will have the opportunity to observe reefs, submerged structures and piles of trees, swamps, murky waters;  all factors that contribute to the success of your fishing trip at any time of day.  Due to the small quantity of fishermen who cover to this area, you are likely to repeat your success year after year.  It`s not a rare thing to catch a 48” (1,2m) pike, a 6` (1,8m) sturgeon, a 20” (50cm) walleye or a 4lbs (2kg) bass.

At Driftwood we realize that your time is precious and that you don`t want to spend your holidays trying to find the fish, so we point out which spots are good (if you don`t require a guide).
